Looks like rain? I think so!

Before I moved to Paraguay I (mentally, emotionally, physically, etc.) prepared myself that I would not see a lot of rain for a very long time. Whoever has lived in Paraguay these last couple of years, knows what I am talking about. There was literally a drought. Whenever the dark clouds would gather, a strong wind coming south would come and blow everything away before the raindrops even had a chance.
It was sad and depressing to see how many people got disappointed over and over again, because very many farmers depend on the rain. One of them being my dad.
The first couple of weeks that I was in Py, it was hot! As in 46-48 degrees Celsius hot. Just before Christmas God showed his grace and love to us and opened up the skies. It was wonderful! Not only did we get rain, but also many of the farms that depended so much on it. Since then, it has rained three more big rains, each time giving us lots of water. It makes me so happy to see people happy!

Brazil

Me and my sister traveled to Brazil for a week! Sadly the weather wasn't quite cooperative the first couple of days, but after that, we had brilliant sunshine!

The Golden Years

It's been a while since my last post, and I have to say, a lot has happened since then. I have moved to a different country, back to family, so I have been quite busy. :) 

The first weekend, after I got to Paraguay, my Grandparents celebrated their 50th anniversary and I was asked to be the event photographer. You can imagen that I was very excited to do so but also a bit nervous. In our society, people are not used to have photographers in their faces. This is what I did, so some people kind of looked at me with an awry expression.

Well, these are my best shots! I definitely had fun and can't wait to do it again!

 

Gloria and Andrew - Engagement

I have to make a "small" confession. When Gloria started dating Andrew I was not happy. Let me clarify that, I was not happy that some boy swooped my best friend off her feet and totally took up all her time. I mean, she was supposed to be my other half! :) With time I got used to it and I got to know Andrew. Now, I have to admit, he is a great guy. A guy who puts a huge smile on my friend, who takes great care of her and it warms my heart to see those two so in love. It reassures me that they are meant for each other. 

The day of the engagement session we decided to go all out. We choose three locations - Fort Langley, White Rock and Granville Island. Yes, we were all over the place and it took all day. But we had such a great time and throughout the whole time, the couple was so at ease and relaxed, that the pictures turned out great!

Macro Monday's

I'm back with another Macro Monday. It's been a while since my last macro post and I had some pictures "laying around" so I decided to post them.

This is my friends pipe. She had it with her one afternoon and I started taking pictures of it, trying out my close up filters.

Ok, so I usually don't post a sneak peak, just because I'm too lazy to and I figure, if I post some pics I might as well post all of them. However, with this photo shoot, I have about 350 pictures to edit, so I think it might take a while till the rest of them will come up. :)

The Warkentin's

Last weekend I was able to do another Family session. My uncle had asked me if I could take their Family pictures and I said yes! So we decided to do it on a Sunday afternoon and luckily the weather was very cooperative! We went to the Mission Heritage Park, which by the way, is my favorite spot to take pictures at. This park has it all, the view, mountains, trees, a big grassy field. Love it.
