Every year I go camping with my friends on the long weekend! Well, this year we stayed home. It was a little bit bittersweet because we really wanted to go, but there was just so much other stuff that needed to be done first, therefore we decided to just have a comfortable weekend at home.
Yesterday we went to Granville Island. Check it out!

Bonfire
This Saturday I had my first bonfire of the season! It was great! I love the feeling of sitting in front of a bonfire and enjoying not only the warmth and the flaming colors of the fire but also the company of friends!
It was one of my friends friends going away party! :)
Somebody had brought a laser! A very strong one I might add. So we had our own little laser party!

Silas and Levi 1st Birthday
On mother's day weekend I went to visit some of my parents friends. Their daughter has twins and it was their first birthday party!! The two boys are adorable and I love playing with them. Also, I was so happy when she asked me to shoot some pictures during the party! So, there you go, these are some of my favorite shots!

I'm back!!
Yes I know, it's been indeed forever since my last post but I'm happy and very excited to announce that I have finally been able to purchase a digital slr camera and now I have no more excuse not to practice, and believe me for a while that won't be a problem!
Just so you know though, this blog will be more about my pictures then about me blogging, a.k.a. writing about my life experiences, etc. I might throw some of that in from time to time, but it will probably be portrayed in pictures as well. Lewis Hine says it perfectly: "If I could tell the story in words, I wouldn’t need to lug around a camera."
So I was trying to upload a picture but obviously it wasn't working. But I promise to come back as soon as possible with some pics!

My Peeps
I love looking at pictures of people. Especially when they are taken naturally, i.e. children playing, people laughing/dancing/hugging/etc. I like it when the photograph captures the emotions that happened at that time.
Here are some of my favourite ones.
The first one is the band "YUCA".
The second one is from about a year ago. That was at the beach in Vancouver just before the big Fireworks show.

The third is of my friend jumping over me. :) That was a very fun day. It was one of those early summer days and we enjoyed it thoroughly. It felt so good to feel the sunshine and smell the freshly mowed grass...
The forth picture is in a library/coffee place. I think those are the best coffee shops, the ones with reading material.

This las one is of me. Although, I gotta give credit to my friend Amanda who took this picture. I love her reflection in my sunglasses.

The Seaworld and a Spider
I'm back!
After a couple of crazy busy weeks, I finally have time again to post some more pics. I have so many pictures waiting to be posted that I figured I would try and post them all today. But right now, lets start with the few animal pictures that I have.
This was at the Vancouver Aquarium about a year ago.
These two girls are my friends. I loved how bright and blue the jelly fish aquarium was, so I told them to sit on opposite ends. The focus of the picture is on the jelly's, with the girls silhouettes more in the background.

First pictures - Four Seasons
For my first "publishment of pictures" I thought I would start with a couple of my nature shots!
I love taking pictures of God's beautiful world! Especially now that Spring is here I can't stop being amazed at how green everything gets! Growing up in Paraguay you never really get the full efect of when a season changes. Yes, it will get colder once winter comes, and yes there are a couple more flowers that will bloom once spring arrives but not like you can see it in a country that gets rain just about every second day.
I thought I would share four pictures that represent each season. So the first one is Spring, second Summer and so on.
Spring: I tried to put the focus on the flowers and blurr out everything else in the background. There is not much going on in this picture, but the long path points out that there is more nature and greenery to see.

Summer: Sun! This was last summer when I went camping with my friends family. This was the first morning, when we saw this halo around the sun. It was awesome! I didn't want to just take a pic of the sun and the halo so I decided to put this tree in the middle to help the ring stick out even more.
Fall: this was beginning of last fall. I focused in on the leafs that were closest to the camera. (by the way, you're going to notice that I do this alot - focuse in on what is close to the camera and the rest is blur)
Winter: This is at my work. I work at a Daycare that is located at an Elementary School which is all the way on top of a mountain. This picture was taken just before a major snow storm.
I liked the way the sun was trying to come out but the amount of clouds kept everything else dark. The tree helps to tone down the brightness and therefore lets the camera focus on other things as well.
